Figure 1A shows the different growth patterns shown in both the ndvB mutant and also in the wild type. Clearly, the wild type exhibits a higher growth capability due to the beta-glucan biosynthesis and sequestration of antibiotics in the periplasm.

Figure 1A shows the OD concentrations of leucine from a cell for both wild types strains and for mutant strains. The wild type, with a BAP2 gene, has the highest OD of leucine and the mutants have decreased ODs.

Figure 1 shows a much higher concentration of ions in components of the inner human ear for the mutant phenotype. However, in the wild type, with the functional Cx26, you see a much smaller ion concentration, indicating gap junction channel activity.

Figure 1 shows the accumulation of triacylglycerides in both wild type and mutants. In the mutant knockout strain, we see a much lower percentage of triacylglycerols in the total fatty acid content. This indicates that the protein has galactolipase function that, in this case, is important following nitrogen deprivation.

Figure 1 shows some of the human phosphocholine hydrolase enzymes and the correlation between various cytotoxic t cell lines and apoptosis. Without the phosphocholine hydrolase activity of these enzymes, apoptosis wouldn't be induced and there would be no reduction in percent survival.

In the article, Figure 2 shows that wild-type cells have much higher pantetheinase activity compared to mutant cells with Vnn1 knocked out, indicating that Vnn1 has pantetheine hydrolase activity.
