mRNA stability as determined by quantitative reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction. Total RNA was isolated from log phase EGDe wild-type and DcspABD cells at defined time intervals after addition of rifampicin.

Fig4 showed a single 0.8-kb transcript hybridizing with the probe suggesting the existence of a monocistronic mRNA for flp gene expression. flp mRNA was detected at a significant level in absence of stress but after cold shock, a sharp increase of flp mRNA level was observed. Moreover, the abundance of the specific mRNA also increased significantly after heat shock suggesting that Flp could be a heat shock protein. These results strongly suggest that the L.monocytogenes LO28 Flp corresponds to the 19-kDa multi-stress protein

Figure 5A shows growth at 5°C and oppA mutant. Figure 5B shows bacteria were grown to mid-log exponential phase at 37°C and transferred to 5°C until the end of growth. The growth was at 5°C and was restored in an oppA-complemented mutant.
