Usage Notes
Fructose-6-phosphate is as an intermediate in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Phosphofructokinase [EC:2.7.1.11] participates only in glycolysis, while fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase [EC:3.1.3.11] participates only in gluconeogenesis. Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase [EC:5.3.1.9] participates in both glycolysis and gluconeogenesis, but also produces beta-D-glucose-6-P, which feeds into other pathways. Other enzymes consume F6P and participate in neither glycolysis nor gluconeogenesis.
