A proper GO term would be GO:0051639 - actin filament network formation

The GO term that was originally submitted was specified for a protein that is part of the lipid bilayer that forms the outermost layer of the cell membrane. The correct GO term should be GO:0019867, which is specific for the external membrane of gram-negative bacteria.

The GO term is not valid.

Figure 2 is showing a number of phenotypes that are associated with the author's contention that the tol proteins are required for outer membrane stability. maintenance of outer membrane stability is not currently in GO; a new term request is needed to annotate this figure. Annotation to outer membrane or cell outer membrane is inappropriate, because those would suggest that we can infer the localization of the protein from this experiment. Annotations to regulation of cell division or cell size are inappropriate because although we see the phenotypes, it is not clear from this experiment that the tol proteins are directly regulating these processes. In fact, the authors would probably argue that those are indirect effects of the outer membranes being messed up. Bacteria don't have actin networks
