Table 3 demonstrates homology with known metalloproteases from other bacteria.

Figure 4 confirms proteolytic activity of prtA in Erwinia by demonstrating inhibition by several common protease inhibitors.

Figure 1 shows complementation assay. E. coli with deleted zitB showed high zinc accumulation whereas E. coli with the deletion that were complemented with czcD from R. metallidurans showed lower levels of zinc accumulation.

Figure 3 shows results of run off transcription assay. No transcription without cnrH. In the presence of cnrH transcription from cnrC and cnrY is activated.

Figure 5 show the growth rate of both wild type and ppcA mutants when grown with acetate as an electron donor and both fumarate and iron(III) as electron acceptors. The growth rate of the mutant was decreased when Fe(III) was used as an electron acceptor. Combined with Table 3 which illustrates the reduction rates of several compounds in wild type an mutant suggests that ppcA is a carrier of electrons from acetate to iron(III) reductases.

figure 3 show growth rates of alkB1 mutants on different n-alkanes. the growth rate was lowered in alkB1 mutants grown on n-hexane, while not affected when grown on other alkanes. This shows that alkB1 is involved in the degradation of n-hexane, while other enzymes are involved in the degradation of longer chain alkanes.

table 3 shows the specific activity of the ACS protein in various strains when grown on various carbon souces. Strain MS1 showed not ACS activity when grown on any carbon sources. When complemented with a plasmid carrying the acsA gene, ASC activity was detected in MS1
