Figure 1B shows an assay showing the TEC complex formation time lapsed. The assay shows that in the wild type subjects there was an increased rate of pausing is occurring when compared to the knockout phenotype. Additionally there was shown to be RNAP arrest which can be observed in comparing lanes 3 and 6. This together shows that nun is regulating transcription elongation.

The Mass Spectroscopy results in Figure 6 and the accompanying table 3 show evidence of 9CALI:Q2NNN5 as a viral capsid protein. When the FCV was exposed to CAP the mass spec analysis resulted in several unique peaks for the capsid protien (Met+16). This was identified to be an oxygenation of several of the methionine groups. When this is taken with the evidence of CAP disintegrating capsid proteins shown by RT-PCR in figure 4 it indicates that 9CALI:Q2NNN5 protein is the capsid protein.

Evidence from figure 1: western blot and plaque assays show HK97 gp15 inhibiting phage infection when compared to a nonsense mutation. It shows this by adding a transformed plasmid into the host cells, one where it expresses gp15 and the other with a nonsense mutation. When expressing gp15 it prevents the growth of HK97 and inhibits the growth of several related phages but there is no similar effect in the nonsense mutation implying that gp15 is the cause of super infection exclusion.

Expression and activity of lytic enzyme was confirmed in Figures 2A/B through SDS Page and an in situ assay. Figure A showed expression of lytic enzyme in ecoli vector plasmid. Figure B showed lytic activity corresponding to the molar mass of a 42kDA protein.
