I believe the correct GO ID and GO Term for this entry are GO:0019037 -- viral assembly intermediate. As mentioned, it is shown in Figure 2 that deletion of E3 abolishes heterodimerization during infection. However, E3 is not the viral protein coat itself. It functions in the heterodimer formation of spike proteins, and ultimately allows their transport, as shown in Fig. 4 where E1 was retained in the ER in the E3 mutant virus.
