Go term – 0009927 - Serves as a phospho-His intermediate enabling the transfer of phospho group between a hybrid kinase and a response regulator.

Evidence - inferred from mutant phenotype, RscS mutants were assessed for phenotypic changes than wild type for demonstration of change in protein activity. Notes – RscS1 if found to be an important protein in colony attachment and improve competitive fitness for colonies by encoding a histidine kinase/ATPase that regulates phosphorylation. By regulating the flow of phosphate this enzyme can possibly regulate transcription of colony attachment genes or regulate the enzymes after translation by activating or inactivating them via phosphorylation. This is shown phenotypcially with an RscS mutant if Figures 3,4,5, as well as Table 3.

Both the evidence and notes for this annotation are incorrect. Below are my suggestions to correct the annotation:

Evidence: IMP (researchers generated substitutions in residues predicted to be the targets of phosphorylation and assessed their effects on rscS1-dependent phenotypes)

Notes: Figures 3, 4, and 5 all demonstrate the altered activity of RscS mutants. Mutations were made in residues predicted to be the targets of phosphorylation; thus, researchers concluded that RscS is a sensor kinase.
