Figure 4. shows that rats enhanced with adenoviruses containing the cDNA encoding rat liver glucokinase (AdCMV-GKL) more efficiently cleared the glucose bolus than the unenhanced rats or the rats enhanced with adenoviruses containing the cDNA encoding Escherichia coli

b-galactosidase nls-LacZ gene (AdCMV-lacZ). Rats with higher levels of Glucokinase enhancement cleared the bolus more efficiently than those with lower levels of Glucokinase enhancement.

Figure 1 a & b show an increase in the glucose phosoralation capacity of mice infused with the adenovirus containing mouse GK cDNA as opposed to mice infused with adenovirus containing either a bacterial beta-galactosidase gene or a 2.4-kb B a mHI cDNA fragment encoding full-length human GK with impaired the catalytic activity due to a point mutation.

Figure 1 a. shows that the Gck knockdown mice have higher blood glucose levels then in those mice with wild type Gck genotype after 2 weeks of age.
