The GO term should be changed to GO:0051899, since the 6K protein is involved in depolarization of the oocyte membrane. Figure 1 is correct in showing that 6K localizes around the perinuclear membrane, but does not suggest anything about the protein being involved in viral entry. However, Table 2 does suggest that the presence of 6K in the oocytes is involved in depolarization. For several of the oocyte samples treated with the 6K protein, the membrane potential decreased considerably (from high negative numbers to low negative numbers), compared to the membrane potential of the control oocytes. The decreased membrane potential suggests depolarization of the treated cells. This evidence, as presented by the paper, points to the new GO term being a better representation of the 6K protein, as opposed to the original GO term.
