The GO term is incorrect, given the evidence in the paper. A better term would be GO:0048028 for polygalacturan binding or GO:0030248 for cellulose binding, however, those are binding terms and not acceptable .At the end of section 3.5, the author describes the method with which they tested this protein for enzymatic activity. Under a variety of conditions and with a variety of substrates, the assay showed no activity. In the conclusion, the author states that it is possible that this family of proteins may have no enzymatic activity, and may use calcium for folding or binding.
