ftsH protein levels were determined when exposing Mycobacterium tuberculosis to certain oxidative stresses. One of the mutant strains, Mtb-6, which contained an overexpression of ftsH , had significantly higher percentage of cell survival versus the wild-type and antisense [Mtb-33] strains when exposed to the same oxidative stress from hydrogen peroxide [Figure 3]. This shows that the FtsH protein is required for optimal survival from exposure of agents that produce reactive oxygen intermediates.
