I think their GO Term is too specific and it should be GO:0022415, which is viral reproductive process - A reproductive process involved in viral reproduction. Usually, this is by infection of a host cell, replication of the viral genome, and assembly of progeny virus particles. In some cases the viral genetic material may integrate into the host genome and only subsequently, under particular circumstances, 'complete' its life cycle. The current GO Term they have now is transmission of virus - the transfer of virions in order to create new infection. The figure indicates that this protein is involved in viral particle production, but this doesn't necessarily include the transfer of virions. | 5 |
