Table 3 shows only that malate dehydrogenase activity is inhibited by addition of zinc and copper salts; it does not show that malate dehydrogenase stops, prevents, or reduces response to salt stress by Zea mays. Just because malate dehydrogenase is inhibited by copper and zinc ions does not mean it is involved in regulation of the response to these ions.
