A luciferase reporter vector was attached to the TRKC promoter in order to measure how SOX2 overexpression and the SOX binding sites affect the expression of TRKC. Luciferase is used only as a reporter, and SOX2 is not actually involved in luciferin monooxygenase activity. SOX2 is a transcription factor that affects the expression of TRKC. The correct GO term should be regulation of gene expression (GO:0010468). This is shown in Figure 6, as you said in your notes section. It is also shown in Figure 2, in which a SOX2 knock down (mutation) results in the downregulation of TRKC (this evidence code would be IMP). | 3 |
