| Public Assessment | Bmcintosh | 2011-12-19 14:27:05 CST | According to Dr. Lovering at UCL, "So sAPP alpha looks to me like the full length soluble protein, the C terminal 16 aa can be cut off to give beta sAPP. UniProt does not have a different ID for the cleaved product so alpha and beta expts all annotated to Q92870. A lot of fusions are done to get the protein in the right place, or so that they can be ppt, etc. The addition of this protein appears to significantly increase the length of the axon, therefore I would go for GO:0050772 positive regulation of axonogenesis (I might go with GO:0045773 positive regulation of axon extension if I felt more confident about whether the length of the axon, or the rate of axon extension had increased, but from the figure referred to I don't think this is shown)."
