I understand why that GO term might be used, but I used initiation of viral infection because CatL cannot allow entry of the virus alone. It simply enhances infection by helping CatB, which is the protein that allows entry.

A more specific GO term would be GO:0046718 entry of virus into host cell. The authors "identified an essential role for cathepsin B (CatB) and an accessory role for cathepsin L (CatL)in EboV GP-dependent entry"

We agree with the rebuttal entered by the original team. The challenge is really good, but we think the most appropriate term is initiation of viral infection based on the authors description of this protein not being required for viral entry in the host cell.
