Hi! So, we've got some issues here, but nothing we can't salvage into some real annotations! Let's talk about the paper first.

In this paper, some folks swabbed the noses of some medical students, grew that into cultures, and then challenged those cultures with antibiotics. This gave them some MRSA. They sequenced the MRSA and looked for genes responsible for resistance to antibiotics, which is shown in Table 1. Good job on mentioning a figure in your notes! Unfortunately, this paper doesn't actually test the function of any of these proteins, just looks for their presence in these nasal cultures. Does that make sense? You need to find the primary source where they determined that blaI has beta-lactamase activity. To add insult to injury, I found the primary source paper for this and blaI is actually a regulator of beta-lactamase activity, so you can't annotate that either.

Don't despair! Remember that you can annotate to literally anything you want! If you are interested in Staph, there are millions of proteins that have nothing to do with antibiotic resistance and thus won't keep landing you in a corner with 'response to' terms.
