Figure 4 shows the effect of mtrC deletion on mRNA levels of four CpxRA-regulated genes. The genes fimA and omp2B are known to be upregulated by CpxRA, while lspB and dsrA are downregulated by activation of the CpxRA regulation system. These results, combined with the information in Figure 3C, led the authors to conclude that the CpxRA system was activated in the mtrC deletion mutant. |
