Figure 2. Xneur is expressed in developing neurons and skin cells whose fate is determined by the Notch pathway. Injection of RNA that upregulates Notch resulted in reduced Xneur expression. Conversely, injection with an RNA that inactivated Notch resulted in increased Xneur expression. This implicates Xenopus neuralized in the Notch signaling pathway.

Figure 5. A direct biochemical assay was carried out in which the RF domain from Xneur was incubated with an E1, E2, and ATP. Immunostaining with anti-ubiquitin antibodies revealed high molecular weight smears of ubiquitin staining, consistent with self-ubiquitination of Xneur.
