Figure 5. Go term "Signal transduction by phosphorylation" Fig. 5 shows that, when neither sensor is present in V. harveyi, LuxO cannot be phosphorylated. The phosphorylation of the repressing LuxO alleles is not required for the constitutive repressor phenotypes. In the absence of both sensors, there was no species in V. harveyi capable of phosphorylating LuxO. These results indicate that LuxN and LuxQ are responsible for phosphorylation of LuxO at low cell density.
