Challenge | Kpadda1, Team Pterodactyl | 2012-11-25 15:16:49 CST | The evidence code is incorrect and the GO term can be more specific. Because Psn loss-of-function mutations are being compared to wild-type, the correct evidence code is IMP. A more appropriate GO term is "regulation of apoptotic process" (GO:0042981) because the Psn loss-of-function mutation led to a change in the occurrence of cell death by apoptosis (measured by apoptotic nuclear fragments). The occurrence of apoptosis in developing tissues increased, but this is not indicative of "negative regulation of apoptotic process," as Curran suggests. This study also showed that the overexpression of Psn led to increased levels of apoptosis in developing tissues, resembling the phenotype of the Psn loss-of-function mutants. So, Psn is somehow involved in the regulation of apoptosis, but its exact role is unclear from the evidence cited. | 4 |
Challenge | Cbice1, Team Smarter Who? | 2012-11-18 22:06:28 CST | Given what the paper says, "Psn Loss-of-function Mutations Lead to Increased Apoptosis," a better GO term for this protein would be negative regulation of apoptosis. | 0 |
