The annotation made at 2011-11-20 12:34:pm CST was for the Nlgn1 protein (Xenopus). Both Nlgn1 and Nrx1B from the reference paper can be annotated to the same term based on either mutated Nlgn1 or soluble Nrx1B which disrupts Nlgn1 and Nrx1B interaction. Both proteins show similar impairment when either one is mutated.

Also from the paper the author states "soluble form of mouse neurexin- 1b lacking splice site 4, fused to Fc-IgG (NRX-Fc). Application of NRX-Fc to immature neurons in culture has been shown to block glutamatergic synapse formation by competing with endogenous presynaptic NRX binding to postsynaptic NLG1." Therefore the soluble form of Nrx1B block the wild type function of Nrx1B as a result reduces AMPA receptor mEPSC frequency therefore GO term: GO:2000969 is the best term that represent the normal function of Nrxn1B when not blocked by soluble Nrx1B.

"(M and N) NRX-Fc significantly reduces AMPA receptor mEPSC frequency, but not amplitude." 1) a repeat of two other annotation 2)negative regulation thus better go term is GO:2000311
