Challenge | Kvieira, Team Drexel 17A | 2017-05-11 12:17:44 CDT | The notes should be modified to say that Figure 2 shows lambda repressor by RecA in the presence of ATP-gamma-S which provides evidence for its involvement in catalyzing peptide cleavage. A better Uniprot ID might be C3SY12 for escherichia coli, and the GO ID should be GO:0004176 for ATP-dependent peptidase activity with qualifier "contributes to." | None, yet. |

Public Assessment | AAJohnson | 2017-05-06 09:25:03 CDT | Take a look at some papers about lambda repressor cleavage. You should probably be using a qualifier "Contributes to" for this annotation (if you can figure out the right GO term). https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19013467 | Requires Changes |
Public Assessment | AAJohnson | 2017-05-06 09:17:03 CDT | The Uniprot ID you chose is for B. thuringiensis kurstaki RecA instead of RecA from "Escherichia coli strain JA 200". The GO Term isn't appropriate without a DNA repair assay. Figure 2 shows proteolytic cleavage. Can you find a GO term related to that? (really interesting, I didn't know RecA could do this) According to the text, this is a protein cleavage, not DNA cleavage assay. You said "the figure provides evidence for DNA cleavage" and that isn't correct. The protein cleavage does appear to be dependent on "ATP-y-S or single-stranded polynucleotide". | Requires Changes ✗ Protein ✗ Go term ✔ Evidence ✗ Notes |
