Table 1 shows the marked decrease in Nitrogenase and β-Galactosidase activity in regA mutants. Figure 1 indicates that regA binds to the nif2A and hupSLC promoter region. Thus, RegA indirectly activates nitrogenase synthesis by binding to and activating the expression of nifA2. |
