Figure 3 show the homology of a region of the V. angustum genome with rpoE in other beacteria species. There are large regions in which amino acid sequence is conserved.

Figure 4 shows an increase in rpoE expression in response to heat shock.

Figure 5 shows that rpoE mutants are more sensitive to heat shock and oxidative stress than the wild type. This suggests that, like in other species, rpoE is a transcriptional regulator involved in the stress response.
