The molybdenum-containing iron-sulfur flavoprotein CODH is the key enzyme in the chemolithoautotrophic utilization of CO by Oligotropha carboxidovorans OM5. The large, medium, and small subunits of CODH are encoded by the structural genes coxL, coxM, and coxS, respectively.

Figures 1 and 2 show the sequence of the coxMSL region.

Figure 4 compares the predicted O. carboxidovorans coxL phosphate binding regions to those in equivalents in distantly related species. Furthermore, consensus of dinucleotide binding sites with other species indicates a possible role in molybdenum interaction.
