Figure 5 shows the results of a direct assay of Mat1, Mat2 and Mat3 showing that they all utilized malonyl CoA as the thioester donor, and converted all the tested 7-O-glycosidic isoflav- ones and flavanones into a corresponding products. The authors went further and said that "Collision-induced dissoci- ation (CID) fragmentation of the product suggested that malonylation occurred at the 7-O-glycoside"
