I thought this was a tricky annotation. When FAK is autophosphorylated, it creates a binding site for SRC which in turn is activated by phosphorylation of Y416 (SRC's active site). Fig 3 shows that SRC protein expression and phosphorylation is decreased in autistic lymphoblasts. However it does not show that FAK1 has protein tyrosine kinase activity. It seems more like FAK receives a phosphorylation signal, undergoes a conformational change and which increases the affinity for SRC.
