Going through the insulin signaling table to see if there are any missing/inappropriate annotations.

Annotations which look fine and don't need to be associated with other insulin signaling genes
Note that insulin stimulates wide range of effects, however there are multiple signaling pathways and several receptors the signal is transduced through so that not all of the insulin signaling proteins will be associated with these processes:
- protein import into nucleus, translocation: not related to insulin pathway but relevant to AKT1
- activation of MAPK activity: PMID: 18854316 confirms activation of PI3-kinase/Akt (and prob IRS1) action not via MAPK
- regulation of cell growth: not related to insulin pathway but relevant to SHC1
- heart morphogenesis: leave this just for INSR
- regulation of translation
- activated T cell apoptosis
- regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor activity
- G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway may not be evidence to support other protein involvement
- Ras protein signal transduction - EXP not showing up!

Annotations which maybe wrong.
- glycogen biosynthetic process - IEA-AKT1 I think this should be to regulation of glycogen biosynthetic process added as NAS and added pos reg term to other insulin signaling proteins (requested review of this annotation by GOA team)
- glucose metabolic process - IEA-AKT1 I think this should be to glucose homeostasis or regulation of glucose met process (requested review of this annotation by GOA team)
- positive regulation of mitosis - NAS SHC1 deleted this one as regulation of cell proliferation seems more appropriate
Annotations which look fine and need to be associated with other insulin signaling genes:
- cell death - difficult to find refs for this
- positive regulation of cell proliferation, also found evidence for INS and INSR and NAS for AKT1 and IRS1/2 - done
- New term added to this pathway: positive reg of glycogen biosynthetic process - mostly NAS annotations made to several insulin signaling proteins-done
- insulin receptor signaling pathway added this to rat SHC1, IRS1, IRS2, and transferred by ISS to the human IRS2 - done.
- phosphoinositide 3-kinase cascade, INS: change to regulation of cascade, associate regulation/or cascade with INSR and p110, no obvious papers for INSR, and lots of different genes for p110 and often papers don't distinguish which protein is being analysed -done all I can at this time
- positive regulation of cell migration, added to porcine INS and ISS'd to human INS - done
- negative regulation of glycogen catabolic p... couldn't find support for INSR involvement this process ?
- positive regulation of glucose import
Additional notes:
- Ras protein signal transduction - EXP in SHC1 not showing up in table!
- GO:0010008 endosome membrane in table but without any protein marked as annotated to this. Annotation is to INSR P06213 EXP
