The GO term given is not specific enough. The protein AUREO1 increases the amount of lipids in the cell, suggesting that it positively regulates the fatty acid metabolic process. The GO ID should be GO:0045723.

Figure 2D could also be used to make 2 other annotations. AUREO1 is known to be a transcription factor. Therefore, it affects gene transcription. Since it increases expression of ACC1 and DGAT, it positively regulates transcription of the corresponding genes. The GO ID for this is GO:0045893. AUREO1 also decreases the expression of LACS, meaning it negatively regulates transcription of the corresponding gene. The GO ID for this is GO:0045892.

This annotation has been flagged because it has been edited since last assessment ||GO:0019217||regulation of fatty acid metabolic process||PMID:24162136||IMP: Inferred from Mutant Phenotype||||P||Figure 2C shows that when cloned into S. cerevisiae, the protein AUREO1 from N. gaditana significantly increased the amount of lipids in the cell compared to the empty vector.

Figure 2D shows that the S. cerevisiae mutant expressing the gene has increased expression of ACC1 and DGAT and decreased expression of LACS, genes that increase and decrease fatty acid production respectively, indicating that the increased lipid contents were due to this regulation. The empty vector did not affect expression of the fatty acid synthesis genes. ||complete
