The GO:0046789 term is appropriate for this annotation. 2D gel electrophoresis, flow cytometric analysis and other methods were used and analyzed to determine and identify the ligand(s) on the surface of Hc yeasts that binds to human macrophage CD11/CD18. Hsp60 is expressed in clusters on the cell wall of Hc yeasts, and is expressed on the surface of Hc yeasts (fig.3). The ability of Hsp60 to mediate binding to intergral cell surface proteins CD18 on human macrophages is expressed in figure 1. Hc hsp60 appears to be a major ligand that mediates attachment of Hc to Mφ CD11/CD18.

It will be helpful if the author includes Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 as a reference... Go term GO:0042022 is appropriate for this annotation.

They used a "binding" term, which we were told we couldn't use. I would suggest using "receptor activity" instead, 0004872.
