Challenge | Kpadda1, Team Pterodactyl | 2012-11-25 14:03:48 CST | The GO term is too specific. The evidence cited does not show that the rate of signal transduction is increased in an ERK cascade. No ERK cascade is even specified in the paper. Only the phosphorylation of ERK is observed in the assay. Phosphorylated ERK significantly increased in the presence of gVPLA2, according to Figure 6. A more appropriate GO term is "positive regulation of protein phosphorylation" (GO:0001934). The quote in the Notes section that gVPLA2 "stimulates upregulation of multiple downstream signaling cascades" refers to previous studies and is not representative of the experiments in the reference cited. | 0 |
