From viewing the "Results" section of this paper, it appears as though the issue is more specific than "Deals with apoptotic activity."

The results section of the abstract claims that M4K4 is overexpressed in tumor cells, and that knocking out M4K4 decreases the size of tumors. Furthermore, it says that knocking out M4K4 blocked progression past the S phase, and induced apoptosis. This would suggest that M4K4 negatively regulates apoptosis,potentially by enabling passage past S phase, and allows cells to live longer, resulting in bigger tumors in the liver.

Had I been able to access this paper, I would flag the proper figure for this citation, but I think this change is required:
