GO:0043066 (negative regulation of apoptosis) was not chosen because the authors do not demonstrate this. The definition of GO:0043066 is the following: "Any process that stops, prevents, or reduces the frequency, rate or extent of cell death by apoptosis." In the paper, the authors did not demonstrate a reduction in frequency or a halt in apoptosis. They merely demonstrated that without relaxin, there is an increase in apoptosis, providing evidence of relaxin regulating apoptosis. There is no evidence that the addition of relaxin will stop, prevent, or reduce the frequency, rate or extent of cell death by apoptosis. Therefore, GO:0043066 is an inappropriate term to use in this case.

It appears as though, from the description given in notes, that if neutralization of endogenous relaxin during pregnancy increases apoptosis, then relaxin is necessary for the negative regulation of apoptosis, a more specific term. Thus I propose GO:0043066
