Although the PubMed article does relate to the function of the gene, the article does not connect gene MltA to the function. The article does discuss thymidylate synthase activity, but it does not mention MltA. Therefore, there is no solid evidence that the protein referred to in the article is MltA. We would suggest finding an article that explicitly discusses MltA and connects to its function which was mentioned in the notes (If that indeed was the correct function).

Don't worry, the Lost City has Found you.

X-ray Crytallography must use Evidence code ISS not IDA

Source: http://geneontology.org/page/iss-inferred-sequence-or-structural-similarity

"ISS can also be used for structural similarity with experimentally characterized gene products, as determined by crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance, or computational prediction."

The cited article compares crystalline structure. Quote from article, Page 89 "Structural comparisons were made with the programLSQMAN [26] using unpublished coordinates for wild-type TS–SO4and TS–dUMP complexes (Roberts andMontfort, unpublished), which are similar to PDB files1TJS and 1BID [27]. GO:2000966 regulation of cell wall polysaccharide catabolic process PMID:16615077 ISS: Inferred from Sequence Similarity UniProtKB:A0A0G4BQJ3 P MltA is a lytic transglycosylase of Gram-negative bacteria that cleaves the beta-1,4 glycosidic linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid (MurNAc) and N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) in peptidoglycan. We have determined the crystal structures of MltA from Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Escherichia coli (NgMltA and EcMltA), which have only 21.5% sequence identity but have 2 main domains separated by a deep grove pointing that they are both MltA proteins. complete
