Table 3 shows that tpa transcripts were only detected by QRT-PCR when cells were grown in the presence of taurine. Table 2 shows that a previous study demonstrated that tpa has pyruvate aminotransferase activity when grown in taurine. Taken together, this evidence suggests that tpa is actively expressed and pyruvate aminotransferase activity occurs in Silicibacter pomeroyi when grown in the presence of taurine.
