zur mutant strain of Agrobacterium tumefaciens C58 is expected to be more sensitive to high concentrations of zinc than WT. zur mutant cellular concentration of zinc was 4x higher than WT upon administration of ZnCl2. zur mutant also showed higher cellular concentration of other metals that the mutants were exposed to, including Cd, Co, Cu, Fe and Ni. Gene could code for a protein that is involved in cellular processing of all metals but with higher affinity for zinc.
